We’re pleased to share that Oxenleaze Farm Caravans is now a Parklink Approved park, and you’ll find us listed in the Parklink Approved directory alongside our park page on parklink.uk.
For a small, family-run park like ours, that recognition matters. We’ve never been about clubs, bars or entertainment programmes. We’re a working sheep farm near Wiveliscombe with around 25 privately owned holiday caravans, and the appeal has always been the peace, the countryside and the way we deal with people. Parklink Approved is a public marker of that second part.
What Parklink Approved actually means
Parklink Approved is a voluntary trust mark available to Parklink partner parks. We’ve publicly committed to five core values:
Clear ownership terms: Buying a holiday home should be straightforward. Ownership terms, park rules and the buying process should be explained in plain English before anyone commits.
High-quality holiday homes with warranties: Well-presented holiday homes, with appropriate warranties, so buyers know what they’re getting.
Fair and transparent site fees: Being open about site fees and associated charges, so owners understand the ongoing cost of ownership rather than discovering it later.
Ethical resale and ownership practices: Supporting owners fairly across the whole ownership journey, not just up to the point of sale.
Inclusive and accessible environments: A welcoming, respectful park for owners, families and visitors.
Why we applied
Honestly, because it describes how we already run the park.
Oxenleaze has been family owned and run for over 50 years. Every caravan here is privately owned, we’re a small site by design, and most of our enquiries come from people who’ve been recommended by an existing owner or who’ve simply driven out to see the place for themselves. That only works if you’re straight with people about the costs, the season, the rules and what ownership here is genuinely like.
The problem for buyers is that a park saying all of this about itself doesn’t count for much. There are plenty of parks in the UK, and it’s hard to tell from a website which ones will be as clear about site fees in year five as they were on the day you bought. A visible, third-party trust mark gives people something to look for, and something to hold us to.
What it means if you’re thinking about buying
Practically speaking, three things.
You can find us in the Parklink Approved directory, which is a useful way to compare parks that have made the same commitment rather than trawling through listings one by one.
You’ve got a clear standard to hold us against. If you’re viewing a caravan here and something about the terms, the fees or the resale position isn’t clear, ask. That’s exactly what the trust mark is for.
And you can still raise a concern with Parklink directly if you ever feel a Parklink Approved park isn’t living up to those values. We’d rather you never need to, but the route exists, and that’s the point.
One thing worth saying plainly, because it comes up on every enquiry: a trust mark isn’t a guarantee of any individual purchase. Read your agreement, ask questions, and do your own due diligence. That advice applies here as much as anywhere.
Come and see the park
We’re at Chipstable, near Wiveliscombe, about six miles from town and roughly ten miles from the nearest A road. Open from Good Friday or 1 April, whichever falls first, through to 15 January. There’s a heated indoor pool (free to owners, open 1 May to 15 September), a games room, laundry and free Wi-Fi , and a great deal of very quiet Somerset countryside.
We should mention: we’re a working sheep farm, so we can’t allow pets in the park. It rules us out for some people, and we’d rather say so upfront than waste anyone’s journey.
